O Saving Victim

O saving Victim, open wide

The gate of heaven to us below.

Our foes press on from every side;

Your aid supply, your strength bestow.

To your great name be endless praise,

Immortal Godhead, One in Three;

O grant us endless length of days

In our true native land with thee.

Amen.

Tantum Ergo

Down in adoration falling,

This great Sacrament we hail;

Over ancient forms of worship

Newer rites of grace prevail;

Faith will tell us Christ is present,

When our human senses fail.

To the everlasting Father,

And the Son who made us free,

And the Spirit, God proceeding

From them Each eternally,

Be salvation, honor, blessing,

Might and endless majesty.

Amen.

Holy God, We Praise Thy Name

Holy God, we praise thy name;

Lord of all, we bow before thee;

All on earth thy scepter claim;

All in heaven above adore thee.

Infinite thy vast domain,

Everlasting is thy reign.

Hark, the loud celestial hymn;

Angel choirs above are raising;

Cherubim and Seraphim,

In unceasing chorus praising,

Fill the heavens with sweet accord: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord!"

This stream is offered as a prayer aid, especially for those who cannot visit a chapel. Catholics who are able should still seek the Eucharist through the Mass, parish Adoration, and the sacramental life of the Church.

Remain in silence for a moment.

Bring to Jesus your wounds, sufferings, anxieties, and disappointments.

Thank Him even for the crosses He has permitted.

Repentance and mercy

Psalm 50:3 (Douay-Rheims): "Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy."

Inspired by the Eucharistic Adoration Companion and Examination of Conscience guides

Entering into the Presence of Mercy

Sit quietly before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Breathe slowly and peacefully.

Inhale slowly

"Jesus, mercy."

Exhale slowly

"Jesus, heal me."

Repeat gently several times.

Prayer of Presence

"Lord Jesus Christ, truly present in the Holy Eucharist, I come before You poor and in need of mercy. I place my wounds, sins, fears, and failures before Your Sacred Heart. Help me not to hide from You, but to trust completely in Your love."

Pause in silence.

Looking Upon Christ Crucified

Gaze upon Jesus.

Remember that His Heart burns with mercy for sinners.

Isaiah 53:5

"But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins."

John 19:34

"One of the soldiers with a spear opened his side, and immediately there came out blood and water."

Reflect

  • Jesus already knows every sin, weakness, and wound.
  • He waits not to condemn you, but to heal you.

"Jesus, You suffered for me out of love. You carried my sins to the Cross. Help me never to doubt Your mercy."

Examination of Heart

Ask the Holy Spirit for light.

"Holy Spirit, show me where my heart still needs conversion."

Quietly reflect

  • Where have I resisted God?
  • Have I neglected prayer?
  • Have I failed in charity?
  • Have I held onto anger, impurity, pride, or selfishness?
  • Have I wounded others through words or actions?
  • Have I trusted myself more than God?

Pause after each question.

Allow Jesus to reveal truth gently.

Do not be afraid.

Pray slowly

"Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner."

Asking Forgiveness and Healing

Speak honestly to Jesus.

Tell Him your sorrow.

Name your wounds and sins interiorly.

"Lord Jesus, I am truly sorry for all my sins. Forgive the times I have ignored Your grace, wounded others, and turned away from Your love. Wash me clean in Your Precious Blood."

Act of Contrition

"O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen."

Remain silent before Him. Let His mercy rest upon your soul.

Prayer for Deep Conversion

Ezekiel 36:26

"And I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you."

"Jesus, change my heart. Remove whatever keeps me far from You. Teach me humility, purity, patience, and trust. Heal the roots of sin within me and make me faithful."

Ask for the grace to return to Confession if needed.

Entrust your future to Christ.

Repeat slowly

"Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee."

Resting in Divine Mercy

Now simply remain with Jesus.

Do not strive.

Receive His love.

Imagine Christ speaking peace over your soul.

John 8:11

"Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more."

Final Prayer

"Merciful Jesus, thank You for loving me even in my weakness. Thank You for Your patience and forgiveness. Draw me closer to Your Eucharistic Heart and help me walk in holiness. May Your mercy transform my life and lead me to Heaven. Amen."

Closing Invocation

"Jesus, I trust in You."

Scripture and listening

1 Kings 3:10 (Douay-Rheims): "Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth."

Inspired by the Eucharistic Adoration Companion and Lectio Divina guides

Becoming Still Before Jesus

Sit quietly before the Blessed Sacrament.

Slow your breathing.

Inhale slowly

"Jesus, speak."

Exhale slowly

"Your servant listens."

Repeat slowly.

"Lord Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist, quiet the noise within me. Open my ears to hear Your voice and my heart to receive Your Word. Help me to listen not only with my mind, but with love and faith."

Pause in silence.

Slow Gospel Reading (Lectio)

Read the following Gospel passage slowly and reverently.

John 15:4-5

"Abide in me: and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine: you the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing."

Read the passage again slowly.

Notice

  • What word or phrase stands out?
  • What touches your heart?

Do not rush.

Allow the words to sink deeply into your soul.

Meditation (Meditatio)

Reflect gently before Jesus.

Consider

  • What does it mean for me to abide in Christ?
  • What distractions or sins pull me away from Him?
  • Where is Jesus inviting me into deeper trust or surrender?

Jesus does not ask you merely to visit Him occasionally. He desires union. Like branches drawing life from the vine, your soul receives grace, strength, peace, and holiness through remaining close to Him.

The Eucharist is this living communion.

Every moment spent with Him bears hidden fruit.

Pray slowly

"Jesus, keep me close to You. Apart from You, I can do nothing."

Silence and Listening (Contemplatio)

Now let go of many thoughts and words.

Simply remain with Jesus.

If distractions arise, gently return to one phrase

"Abide in me."

"Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening."

Rest quietly.

Listen with the heart.

Allow Christ to love you in silence.

Psalm Prayer

Psalm 62

"O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways! In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: So in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory."

Pause.

Offer Jesus your desire to know Him more deeply.

Closing Prayer

"Lord Jesus, thank You for speaking through Your Word and Your Presence. Help me to carry Your voice into my daily life. Teach me to recognize Your invitations, obey Your will, and remain always close to Your Eucharistic Heart."

Final Invocation

"Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth."

Remain a few moments longer in silence if you desire.

Pray slowly

Meaning

What Is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is prayer before Jesus Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament.

Catholics believe the Eucharist is not merely a symbol, but truly Christ Himself. In Adoration, the faithful come before Him in worship, silence, love, thanksgiving, repentance, and intercession.

If you are new to the Catholic faith, Adoration may feel unfamiliar. You are welcome to learn slowly. Catholics adore Christ present in the Eucharist; they do not worship the monstrance, chapel, or symbols.

  • Adoration is centered on Jesus.
  • It flows from the Mass.
  • It invites silence, reverence, and love.
  • You do not need perfect words.
  • You can pray, read Scripture, sit quietly, or simply look toward Christ.
  • Adoration should deepen love for the Eucharist, the Mass, confession, charity, and holiness.
