Fruit That Remains
Friday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Christ calls His disciples friends and sends them to bear fruit that remains. The day becomes simpler when love is received before it is attempted.
Scripture references
- First Reading: Acts 15:22-31
- Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 57
- Gospel: John 15:12-17
Daily Oratory provides Scripture references and original reflections. It does not republish copyrighted readings.
The Gospel places Christian action inside friendship with Christ. Before the disciple is sent, the disciple is loved. Before fruit is expected, communion is offered.
This changes the tone of the day. Charity is not a performance meant to prove our worth. It is a response to the One who first called us friends.
Ask for one concrete act of love that can remain after the moment passes: a truthful word, a patient silence, a hidden service, or a prayer for someone difficult to love.
Reflection questions
- Where am I trying to bear fruit apart from friendship with Christ?
- What one act of charity could remain after today?
- Who needs to be treated as a friend of Christ through my patience?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep me in Your friendship today. Let my words, choices, and hidden sacrifices bear fruit that remains in love.
