The Vine and the Branches

Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Fruitfulness begins with remaining. The branch does not strain toward life; it receives life from the vine.

Scripture references

  • First Reading: Acts 14:19-28
  • Gospel: John 14:27-31a
Open official daily readings

Daily Oratory provides Scripture references and original reflections. It does not republish copyrighted readings.

Spiritual growth often becomes anxious when we forget the order of grace. Christ does not ask the branch to become its own source.

Remaining can look very small: five minutes of prayer, a truthful confession, a humble apology, or a decision not to flee silence.

Let today include one act of remaining. Stay with Christ before rushing to fix what only grace can heal.

Reflection questions

  • Where am I trying to produce fruit apart from Christ?
  • What simple act of remaining is possible today?
  • What would change if I received grace before measuring progress?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, true Vine, keep me close to You. Let my work, prayer, and relationships receive life from Your grace.
