Homilies Library

Catholic preaching and reflections to help you hear the Word, understand the Mass, and live the Gospel.

Explore Catholic homilies, reflections, playlists, and audio resources organized for prayer, formation, and daily discipleship. Listen before Mass, after Mass, during prayer, or as part of your weekly spiritual rhythm.

Pastoral note

Online homilies can support formation, but they do not replace attending Mass. For Catholics, Sunday Mass obligation is fulfilled by participating in Mass, not only by listening to preaching online.

Use discernment, prefer faithful Catholic sources, and let good preaching lead you back toward Scripture, the sacraments, repentance, charity, and holiness.

Prayer and Formation

How to Use Homilies for Prayer and Formation

A homily is not just information. It is meant to help the Word of God take root, lead the heart to conversion, and draw listeners deeper into Christ.

Step 1

Begin with prayer

Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart.

Step 2

Listen for one word or phrase

Do not try to remember everything. Notice what stirs your conscience or hope.

Step 3

Connect it to Scripture

Look up the Mass readings or Gospel if available.

Step 4

Ask what Jesus is inviting

Ask what Christ is asking you to believe, surrender, or practice.

Step 5

Choose one action

Let the homily become charity, repentance, prayer, or service.

Step 6

Return to the Mass

Let homilies deepen your love for the Eucharist and parish worship.

After Listening

Reflection Prompts

Use one or two of these prompts to let a good homily become prayer and concrete discipleship.

  • What word or phrase stayed with me?
  • What did this teach me about Jesus?
  • What Scripture passage was connected to the homily?
  • Where do I need conversion?
  • What virtue is God inviting me to practice?
  • Who should I pray for after hearing this?
  • What is one action I can take today?

Mass

Homilies and the Mass

The homily is part of the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. It helps explain the Scriptures, connect the Word to Christian life, and call the faithful to deeper conversion.

Listening to online homilies can support prayer and formation, but it does not replace Mass for Catholics who are able and obligated to attend.

Exploring Catholicism

If You Are Exploring the Catholic Faith

Homilies can be a gentle way to hear how Catholics pray with Scripture and connect the Gospel to daily life.

  1. 1. Listen to a short Gospel homily.
  2. 2. Read the Mass readings.
  3. 3. Learn what happens at Mass.
  4. 4. Explore OCIA if you feel drawn.
  5. 5. Ask questions at a local parish.
