Matthew 21:1–11
1 And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 Saying to them: Go ye into the village that is over against you, and immediately you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them and bring them to me.
3 And if any man shall say anything to you, say ye, that the Lord hath need of them: and forthwith he will let them go.
4 Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of her that is used to the yoke.
6 And the disciples going, did as Jesus commanded them.
7 And they brought the ass and the colt, and laid their garments upon them, and made him sit thereon.
8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way: and others cut boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the way:
9 And the multitudes that went before and that followed, cried, saying: Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying: Who is this?
11 And the people said: This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.

Lord Jesus Christ, as I accompany You into Jerusalem, open my heart to receive You as You are. Quiet my demands and the expectations I place upon You. Let my praise become a willing surrender, and my welcome become a lasting commitment to follow You. Teach me to walk beside You through this Holy Week with humility, attention, and love. Amen.

Place yourself beside the road into Jerusalem. Garments cover the ground, branches move above the crowd, and voices rise in welcome. Jesus approaches on a humble animal. Matthew invites us to recognize the promised King in this gentle figure, entering the city without the display of force we might expect from earthly power.
The disciples have carried out a simple task: they have brought what Jesus asked for. Their obedience becomes part of this moment of revelation. Consider the small things the Lord has entrusted to you. A duty faithfully completed, an apology offered, or time given to prayer may prepare a place for Him more truly than an impressive promise.
The city asks who Jesus is. Let that question become personal. Do I welcome Him only when His purposes resemble my own? Can I receive a King who asks me to forgive, to serve, and to relinquish control? The praise of Palm Sunday invites a response that reaches beyond this joyful road into the difficult days ahead.
Remain near Him as the procession moves forward. Offer Him the part of your life you most want to manage alone. You do not need to understand every step before taking the next one with Him. Ask for a humble heart that continues to welcome Jesus when following Him requires patience, sacrifice, or an unseen act of love.

Jesus, my King, receive the welcome of my imperfect heart. Forgive me for praising You with my lips while resisting You in my choices. Enter the places where pride and fear have closed the door. Give me the courage to follow Your gentle way, to serve without seeking attention, and to remain faithful when the road becomes difficult. Let my life make room for You each day. Amen.
